BEACHES

 

There are many fine beaches very close by:-

 

• Englewood - with parking, shops, restaurants, picnic areas, BBQ facilities, showers and play areas. 
• Stump Pass -  this beach is a State Park and located at the southern end of Manasota Key.
• Boca Grande (Gasparilla Island) - Great beach with boutiques, art galleries good restaurants and the historic lighthouse.
• Siesta Key – fantastic white fine sand beach, great eating and shopping, beautiful sunsets.  Well worth a short trip.
• Venice beach – fishing from the pier and good restaurant.

 

 

 

 

NATURE

 

Stump Pass beach - a State Park at the southern end of the key with nature trails, seclusion and access to the Intra Coastal Waterway.
Myakka State Park - with alligators, air-boat trips, canopy walkway, kayaking horse trail and picnic areas.
Oscar Scherer State Park – wildlife, hiking, cycling and picnicking.

SHOPPING

For local shopping there are the usual supermarkets ( Publix, Winn Dixie etc.), pharmacists, a 24 hour Wal-Mart and many other shopping plazas.  The Port Charlotte shopping mall is approx 15 minutes away with all the usual big name department stores such as Macys, Dillards, Sears etc.
At Fort Myers there is a fantastic new shopping area called Coconut Pointe plus Miromar and Tanger outlets.

 

GOLF

 

A golf package at the Rotonda Golf and Country Club is available with the villa.  This is unbelievably good value for unlimited golf for two persons on any of the Club’s four courses (81 holes) for only $125 per week.  (Two sets of clubs and bags provided at the villa)
Within approx 5 miles of the villa there are 7 golf courses, and 22 golf courses within 15 miles of the villa.  You’ll be spoilt for choice.
 
The villa overlooks the ninth hole of the new segment of Long Marsh Golf Course.  This part of the course is very picturesque and very challenging.
 
The 18-hole "Long Marsh" course at the Long Marsh Golf Club facility in Rotonda West, Florida features 7,120 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.  The course rating is 74.2 and it has a slope rating of 128 on Bermuda grass.

EVERGLADES CITY

Here you will find a waterfront mall and marina where sightseeing and fishing trips can be booked.

 

EATING OUT

 

For eating out you are spoilt for choice with all the usual well known restaurants at Port Charlotte and many local restaurants, recommended for their quality and variety.

 

Locally, there are many excellent restaurants, including Johnny Leverock’s (fish), Mamma’s (Italian), The Pig and Whistle (British and highly recommended), Farlows on the Water (Caribbean), White Elephant pub and Gulf View Grill, both at Englewood Beach and many more.

 

SPORT

 

Boating on the Intra Coastal Waterway and sea fishing are very popular and readily available very close by.  Refer to Gasparilla Marine for more information. 
Fishing can be done in the canals of Rotonda and also from the bridges and beaches of Charlotte Harbour.
In the Rotonda community there are tennis courts, children’s play area and numerous nature and cycling trails very conveniently close by.  Cycling, jogging and walking are common pastimes in the area.

Nearby Charlotte County Stadium is the Winter training ground for the Tampa Bay Rays or take a trip to Tampa for a ball game.

Skateboarding, tennis, basketball courts and a public swimming pool are available at Oyster Creek Regional Park at San Casa Drive.
